All Contributors published in the print publication of Truly Belong (“TB”) are entitled to a payment of 15p/word within 60 days of the submitted final draft. Upon interest, the contributor will be sent a free print copy of the publication issue that contains the Contributor’s work.
Terms & Conditions
- The Best Print Journalism prize (the “Prize”) is open to those aged 18 and over and legally residing in the UK.
- Employees or agencies of Truly Belong (“TB”, “We”), its group companies or their family members, or anyone else connected with the Prize are not eligible.
- Entrants into the Prize shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
- To enter the Prize, your work must have been selected to be published in the 8th print issue of TB. If you have any questions about how to enter or in connection with the Prize, please e-mail us at info@turlybelong.com with “Journalism contest” in the subject line.
- There is only one entry per person. In the case that more than one article from the same author is published, the best according to editors will be shortlisted. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not eligible.
- The closing date for the pitches is 23:59 on 14 January 2020. Entries received outside this time period will not be considered.
- One winner will be chosen by senior editors in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The winner will be chosen based on their article’s creativity, originality, relation to the Publication’s theme, the contributor’s ability to work with editors, and the overall final product.
- The winner will be awarded a 7-day trip to the Commonwealth of Dominica (“Country”) in the summer of 2020. It also includes £500 to spend on meals and other excursions in Dominica.
- TB accepts no responsibility to reschedule flights or provide alternative methods of travel. If the winner is barred from the Resort or Country based on the obstruction of the Resort or Country’s policies, TB is not responsible for providing legal aid or alternative accommodation or any other aid.
- The winner will be notified by email in April 2020 and must provide a postal address to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to TB within 14 days of being notified by TB, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and TB shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above (and that winner will have to respond to notification of their win within 14 days or else they will also forfeit their prize). If a winner rejects their prize or the entry is invalid or in breach of these Terms and Conditions, the winner’s prize will be forfeited, and TB shall be entitled to select another winner.
- The prize will be sent to the winner by TB by email or post.
- The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
- TB retains the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original prize offered is not available.
- The winner may be required to take part in promotional activity related to the Prize and the winner shall participate in such activity on TB’s reasonable request. The winner consents to the use by TB and its related companies, both before and after the closing date of the Prize for an unlimited time, of the winner’s voice, image, photograph and name for publicity purposes (in any medium, including still photographs and films, and on the internet, including any websites hosted by TB and its related companies) and in advertising, marketing or promotional material without additional compensation or prior notice and, in entering the Prize, all entrants consent to the same.
- By entering the Prize, you agree to the usage of your personal information in order to process and contact you about your Prize entry, and for marketing purposes outlined in paragraph 14.
- TB accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Prize or accepting the prize. TB further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Prize. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the liability of TB for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.
- TB reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Prize with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of TB in all matters under its control is final and binding.
- TB shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
- The Prize will be governed by English law and entrants to the Prize submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
